Nuts, Bolts And Screws – It All Appears Identical To Me

I have to confess, in terms of Do it yourself, equipment and other “manly subjects”, I seriously consider myself a dummy! I will be able to bring you a certain size spanner and I have a good idea of what a hammer and a screw is, but if hubby will ever send me to the hardware to purchase wall anchors, nuts or bolts I am afraid I will rather take my wallet and go food shopping – at least that’s something I understand!

That doesn’t imply that I do not enjoy going to our neighborhood building supply retailer. When hubby is in one of those “let’s fix the house” moods and stocking up on wall anchors along with other stuff that I don’t fully grasp, I am quite happy to browse the isles and look at all the many redecorating and home decor tips and ideas that these outlets also offer.

I think the garden section is probably my favourite section in these types of outlets. Whoever thought that it might be smart to have a gardening section in a typical DIY store sure had a good idea! In this section I feel totally at home and I can spend several hours looking at the different plants, the beautiful pots on special and other gadgets and ornaments that I can use in my backyard garden.
Our building supply retailer also has a section for the pets and I never go back home without a soft toy for our puppy and some wild birdseed for the bird feeder in the garden.
While hubby is exploring the home improvement section for his wall anchors, tools, pipes and handles, I will usually (once I’m done in the gardening and pet sections of course!) pull along and envy the various types and fashions of curtain rods and window treatments and also “borrow” a few ideas for our home.

We’ll be moving into a new house shortly and I simply cannot wait to modernize the place! The only area in the house that freaks me out somewhat is the kitchen area. I not really know what the previous renters got up to in that kitchen, but I do know that new kitchen cabinets will be non-negotiable! I was initially quite daunted with the whole idea; because (or so I was thinking!) a new kitchen would cost at least an arm and a leg. I was however pleasantly impressed at how easy it is to design and built your own kitchen! Our building supplies retailer even offers racks and cabinets, door handles, hinges and all the other equipment necessary – so hubby can build me the kitchen of my dreams!

So the next time hubby mumbles something about wall anchors, sealer, spanners or paint, do not despair! Put on some lipstick and head to the shop with him! You might also find beautiful pots, mirrors, window blinds, curtain rods and other items that you actually understand! Just nonchalantly include it with the trolley and give hubby a nice smile. he will be unable to resist!
