Here is the list of things to watch on your PC to find the programs that start automatically each selancent. This list is useful to know what programs are taking inutilkes and therefore unnecessary memory, as well as recognized if a virus or a Trojan did not quietly installed on your PC.
•    The autoexec. Bat, well known among users of DOS, it is at the root of your hard drive. You can edit it (right click, edit) and to write DOS commands. Warning! When it runs, you’re not running Windows, and you can not run as executable programs from DOS (16 bit).
•    The start menu folder (c: \ windows \ start menu \ programs \ startup \): You can add or remove shortcuts to programs or files.
Note that in order not to load the contents of the file you can press the Shift (up arrow), at Windows startup (when your bottom is displayed).
•    Win.ini file (c: \ windows \ win.ini): Open it and look for the [windows] section, you will find below the values run =… , Which starts programs and load them =…, starts and reduced immediately.Win.ini is a survivor of the old versions of Windows, and does not handle long file names.
•    The registry (c: \ windows \ regedit.exe): Open HKEY_LOCAL_MACHINE \ Software \ Microsoft \ Windows \ CurrentVersion \ Run * \ (anything that starts with Run: Run, RunServices (execu before entering the password) …) for all users of the machine, or else HKEY_CURRENT_USER \ Software \ Microsoft \ Windows \ CurrentVersion \ Run * \ just for you. Then, on the right of the screen, enter a value chain that will be the path of the application to launch, or simply the program name if it is in the Windows directory. Note: Do not forget the value by default! That’s the famous starts trojan / program remote management (for hypocrite) BackOrifice.
and also:
HKEY_LOCAL_MACHINE \ Software \ CLASSES \ exefile \ shell \ open \ command with the value @ = “Filname.exe”% 1 “% *”
If this value is set, the program filname.exe starts each time you launch another program. It is used by trojans (such as SubSeven), but can also be used for restrictions on a machine.
•    For Windows NT:.
HKEY_LOCAL_MACHINE \ Software \ Microsoft \ Windows NT \ CurrentVersion \ Winlogon \ Userinit, and
HKEY_CURRENT_USER \ Software \ Microsoft \ Windows NT \ CurrentVersion \ Windows
•    The system.ini file (c: \ windows \ system.ini): In the [boot] section, you will find the line:
shell = Explorer.exe prog.exe
The programs will be launched explorer.exe and prog.exe at start of windows
