Why install fire sprinklers at home.
Most people have smoke detectors as fire protection installed in their places of residence but few home owners have automatic sprinkler systems installed or even know anything about automatic sprinkler systems in residential property. It is fair to say that having smoke detectors installed in every room in your home is essential in helping detect a fire in its early stages but if you require the best possible defence then you should also think about installing an automatic fire sprinkler system.
Fire sprinklers not only catch fire at its early stages but can suppress or in a lot of cases completely put out the fire before it takes hold and completely destroys property.
Companies that manufacture fire sprinklers have been producing this apparatus for warehouses, factory premises and office buildings for a long time now but only recently has this equipment been utilized for the residential and domestic market. The most common type of fire sprinkler systems in residential and domestic properties is a wet pipe system. A wet pipe system consists of a network of pipes that link the sprinkler heads to the water supply, the pipes are constantly filled with water and pressurised. The sprinkler heads hold back the water until usually around 70?C is detected then the sprinkler head will discharge the water and spray the affected area, contrary to common misconception only the sprinkler heads that reach 70?C will go off. The mains water in the home can be used to supply the sprinkler system as long as there is sufficient pressure and flow, if there is insufficient pressure and flow then a tank and pump can be used.
A fire sprinkler system is like having a fireman on duty in your home 24 hours a day seven days a week, in the United Kingdom there is no recorded fatality in a dwelling protected by a sprinkler system. Currently governments and councils all over the world are slowly making mandatory installation of sprinkler systems in new build family dwellings, care homes and residential blocks.
