Dosing Pumps, External Gear Pumps

Pumps are the basic devices employed for fluid, liquid or gas movement in industries. These are available in variety of features and are used for number of fluid, liquid or gas moving applications in industries. Some of the most commonly used varieties of industrial pumps are dosing pumps, chemical metering pumps, reciprocating plunger pumps, rotary gear pumps and external gear pumps.

Dosing Pumps:

Dosing pump is a reciprocating pump whose capacity can be adjusted by varying its swept volume. This can be done even when the pump is running. This extraordinary ability for capacity adjustment while the pump is running, provides the dosing pump with a very high degree of accuracy, thus making them apt devices for applications like metering and injecting additives and chemicals in various processes where accuracy is critical factor. Available in number of variant features, these are generally the low-volume pumps designed for either vertical or horizontal movement of fluids depending on the direction of the pump stator and rotor assembly. A variety of commercial, industrial, municipal and maritime industries make use of dosing pumps for various fluid pumping and feeding applications. Medical, pharmaceutical, agriculture, dairy farms, breweries, construction, food, oil and gas production, automotive and paper industries are some of the fields where dosing pumps are widely used. A special range of chemical dosing pumps or chemical metering pumps are used to feed demulsifiers, antioxidants, rust inhibitors, flocculants, dyes, specialty chemicals, flocculants and all difficult-to-move or mix chemicals in boilers, tanks, batch systems in industries.

External Gear Pumps

External gear pumps are a popular variety of lubrication pumps that are widely used in machine tools, fluid power transfer units and as oil pumps in engines. Based on the type of gears used in them, these are classified into three types as helical, spur and herringbone type gear pumps. In helical gear, the point of engagement moves along the length of the gear tooth as the gear rotates where as in spur the entire length of the gear tooth engages at the same time. Because of this helical external gear pumps offer smooth flow as compared to the spur type gear pumps. Helical gear pumps are generally the no-noise pumps and are widely used for high-pressure applications such as hydraulic applications. Transferring viscous fluids like crude oil, lube oil, vegetable oils, molasses, fatty acids, LSHS, LDO, HSD, kerosene, bitumen in road constructions are some of the common applications where this kind of pumps are widely used.
