Make Money Online Using Your SEO Knowledge
One of the greatest opportunities of our generation is that anyone with a computer and an internet connection can start up their own business with little or no money down. Granted it is not as easy as hitting the ‘go’ button and making the internet business profitable, but the possibility still remains. The best way to make good money online is to learn SEO (search engine optimization).
SEO will allow you to take a website and rank it on top of the search engines so targeted users can find your web pages. If you don’t optimize your pages for keywords that bring you traffic, you are going to be missing out on a lot of free traffic searching for exactly what you are offering.
What most people don’t realize is that even if the top search engines like Google index your web pages, if they aren’t optimized, the people that do search queries on Google will likely never find your website. Hardly any users ever wander off of page 1 of the search results. So if your website is on page 2, 3, 4, or 145, no one is going to find your website which means that you are going to be missing out on easy money.
Good SEO Habits:
SEO is an ongoing learning process and SEO experts have to change and adapt right along with the search engines. The search engines are constantly updating their algorithms and tweaking things to give their searches the best and most relevant results possible. What worked last year to rank a website high may not have any ranking influence today.
There are however a few good habits to pay attention to that should work for many years ahead. Let me start with the on page content.
You always want to make sure that each page you publish is focused around a set of keywords that people are actually searching for. There are free tools online that you can use to see exactly what people are searching for and just how many people are searching at any given time.
Always look to see which keywords or keyword phrases are getting the most searches on the topic you are about to write on. But, the key is to also include other ‘likewise’ keywords and keyword phrases within the context as well. This is called LSI or latent semantic indexing, and is used by the major search engines to make sure that each page is relevant to the keywords that they are trying to rank for.
The other side of the SEO coin is optimizing your off page content. In a nutshell, these are the links that point back to your web pages. You should always use anchor text links with the same keywords as what you are trying to rank for on your own web page.
Remember to always make sure that you are producing content that is enlightening, entertaining, or educational. In doing so, people will tend to naturally link back to your page so you won’t have to worry much about doing any of the back link work yourself.
