SeveralA Few Easy Everyday Ways To Live Green

Almost daily we are reminded by the media of the effects of pollution – caused by mankind – and the direct consequence thereof, global warming. A number of you may feel compelled to do something but you may not know what to do or where to begin. A lot of people are inclined to think that if they can’t do something huge they may as well do nothing, but there are numerous small behavioral changes which collectively are powerful. Below are a couple of ways in which you can contribute.

1. When feasible, use a laptop rather than a desktop computer
Whatever they do today, almost all people probably use a computer a great deal. Laptops use more or less half the energy used by a desktop PC, so use a laptop if you have the choice. Also, never mind being more affordable, laptops are light and compact and can be taken along to most places you go to.

2. Try walking rather than drive
Autos and pollution are go together in my mind. Cars are big polluters as they burn fuel, causing poisonous gases to be released into the air. Think of the huge number of cars in use around the world every day, and you’ll start to understand the extent of the issue. If we all try to walk rather than drive a car just once every day, we’d effect a sizable change for the better. There are occasions when walking is just not pragmatic, but, when it is, walk! Any quick trips by car can probably be replaced by walking without any problems. Walking can clear up your head, wonderful for your health as well as that of the planet, and save you a bit of money to boot.

3. When you are brushing your teeth, turn off the tap
Because water is simply a turn of the tap away, we use it without thinking, and waste a lot as we do so. When you brush your teeth you should have the tap off, otherwise you’ll be wasting a lot of water. Just imagine: you should brush your teeth for two minutes and in two minutes a good deal of water is wasted. A good idea is to simply fill a cup with water and use that to rinse your mouth out since less water goes to waste.

4. Don’t bath, have a quick shower
Taking a shower uses less electricity and water than taking a bath, so opt to shower. Simply keep in mind not to luxuriate in the shower; stay for too long and you’re back to being wasteful. Make certain you shower quickly or else you will be wasting water!

5. Try not to leave the lights turned on day in and day out
If you are going out of a room, don’t leave the light switched on. If it is empty, a room may as well be dark. You will be able to save money, conserve energy and benefit the planet by doing this. When there’s sunlight outside, don’t turn on the inside lights as the sunlight will provide plenty of light to your home.

These tips are really simple and won’t cost you anything to carry out. Actually, they’ll likely save you money. Carry on, help the environment!
