Cat Tree Stability

This topic may seem silly unless you are one of the many people that have purchased a cat tree that was inexpensive and had your cat never use it. Cats are very particular and will not go near something if they experienced something negative around it.

I have seen cats get very excited about the new cat tree in the house. However if they use the tree and it wobbles or is unstable chances are they will avoid using it again. I hope it really was a bargain and you can use it for sculptural art.

Being a multiple cat owner means that I have to be very careful in what I provide to my cats. This is so true when it comes to cat trees. My cats launch onto trees from 10 feet away. They use it to bounce off when they get the cat crazies. They play king or queen of the cat tree and knock other cats off. The swing like monkeys from the scratching areas. Oh and some of my cats weigh 20 pounds!!

Nothing will scare them as much as doing these activities for the first time and having the cat tree wobble, tip over or break. This is the same for a small scratching post as well. From 1 feet tall to my 9 footer, every part better be stable and secure. No matter how much money that cat tree was, my guys are done with it. Let the dogs have it as a chew toy for all they care.

Before you take the plunge check that the cat trees you are investigating:
* Have a base that is wide
* Is made with real wood on the base, the thicker the better
* Has a base that is weighted on the bottom
* Can be taken apart and reassembled without losing the stability and security
* Are made by a company with years of experience and skilled craftsman
* Are made by a company that has a return policy
* Have a company employee that answers the phone if you have questions.

You and your cat will have this quality cat tree for a long time. Be sure both of you are pleased with the structure and the manufacturer.
