Natural reserve in Tuscany: Lake Montepulciano

One of the most suggestive reserves in Tuscany is the Lake Montepulciano, the kingdom of the birds and a magical place for people is looking for a succession of evocative feelings, made up of images, sounds and other sensory perceptions.
The rarified and magic silence that it seems to have will let you observe the numerous species of birds that winter and nest in the Reserve, like the purple heron and the bittern, very rare in Europe. You will be able to try and catch sight of, or recognise by their calls,  those species present all year round such as the great crested grebe, the great reed warbler ant the moor hen.
The acquatic vegetation will catch your eye because you will be able to find many species, like the white water lily, that have disappeared from the Italian wetlands because of land reclamation and pollution; the damp grasslands that are bordered by reed beds harbour, the rare marsh orchis and the serpent’s tongue, a similarly rare fern.
The lake is located in the Province of Siena, precisely in the Val di Chiana. The entire area is very typical for its landscape and countryside and permit you to make a lot of interesting paths. Book exclusive villa rentals in Tuscany or rent farmhouses in Tuscany and enjoy your holiday!
