Comparisons Between Private And Public Scools

When schools are about to open for the new semester, most parents are always faced with the question of which school they should take their children. Should they consider taking their children to private schools and what are the implications of such a decision? In most cases, there are factors parents have to consider before settling on a particular decision. The factors vary from the cost of learning, the content of learning or the programs being offered by the school, discipline within the school environment among other aspects. Every parent has a wish for his or her children to get the best form of education available.
Programs
In public schools, the content of programs that is taught in classes is determined by the state and the federal government. The parents whose children are attending a public school have no choice on the content of the program to be learnt. This is quite the opposite with private schools. They have their own specific programs that parents are at liberty to select which school their children are to attend and acquire the knowledge in those fields.
Even though they have different programs administered in their curriculum, there are certain core subjects that are admissible in both private and public schools. For instance, English, mathematics and sciences. The students are expected to achieve a set of credit for them to qualify for graduation.
Admissions
Public schools have a mandate to admit all students. This is in line with the requirement of all children to be educated. The students are to be admitted in public schools with exceptions like documented discipline. A public school is supposed to admit students that are within their jurisdiction or authority. In private schools, before students are admitted they are subjected to a number of tests in order to establish the eligibility of the student. This includes the discipline of the student, his or her ability to perform in class among other set requirements.
Cost.
There is no cost incurred in public school children in elementary classes. In High schools the costs are within a reasonable range. Public schools are also funded by the state and receive education funding from the federal government. This makes it more affordable for parents who are not in a position to take their children to private schools. The cost of learning in a private school is relatively high. This is because the learning environment and settings are well above the public ones.
Discipline.
It is mandatory for students to be disciplined whether at school or not. Discipline in public schools is outlined by the state standards and the federal government. The administration of public schools is to enforce the guidelines as provided in the programs. In private schools, the extent of discipline is determined and controlled by the board and any violators can be expelled or suspended from attending the school.
