Spam danger in web hosting
In the first movement of this kind, TDM managed hosting provider has said it will terminate the accounts of customers who send spam or allow to be routed through their servers.
TDM, home web server, for about 250 clients, said that terminating the accounts of companies that generate spam or use the TDM resources to address it.

Recent estimates of a Committee of the U.S. Federal Trade put volumes of spam globally between 40% and 75% of all e-mail traffic. Industry experts in the United Kingdom have estimated the cost for companies billions of pounds a year in lost bandwidth and storage resources.
Meliti said: “Our acceptable use policy says that those who send spam or allow to be sent through their servers or otherwise abuse the Internet will terminate the contract. There are enough decent companies out there that are happy to work to mean that we do not need the spam – which is best for us in the long term.
“It’s pretty easy for other companies to do this because the lists of spammers are kept. If there are more of them did it would force spammers to look abroad for accommodation and disability services greatly.” Graham Titterington, senior analyst at Ovum, welcomed the measure. “There have been rumors about doing this for some time, but this is the first time I’ve seen someone putting their head above the parapet.
“If the industry is considered mature, nice to see someone doing something about it. It’s a good idea, but it raises issues of freedom of information.” You may be able to update content yourself via ftp (file transfer protocol), but in some instances you may have to submit changes to your host provider for them to make. You may also be restricted to making a certain number of updates per month or year, depending on your agreement.
