Pool, also known as billiards is a great game to play and to watch. There are many different types of cue sports, as they are called. Snooker, Carom and Pool are what is usually played. Billiards is played all over the world and is popular with men and women. Pool is very popular in America. Many bars, taverns and restaurants have a  Pheonix pool table somewhere in the establishment. There are some bars that have rows and rows of pool tables allowing for many people to play at once. These types of pool halls are becoming very popular again with people of all ages. Pool halls today don’t have the seedy look or bad reputation of pool halls of yesteryear. On the contrary today’s pool hall and gaming places are great fun for all ages. They are usually well lit and in good areas in town. When playing pool or Pheonix billiards you will have of course pool tables.

Pheonix pool tables can vary in size, most bars and taverns have a 8 or 9 foot table. There are racks on each table. Racks can be made from aluminum, wood or plastic. Racks contain the balls for breaking. A player will organize the balls within the rack. There are different shapes of racks for different types of cue games. Every player uses a cue stick. They vary in length and weight and a player uses one based on his or her preference. On the top of the stick is where a player would rub chalk on the tip. Chalk is used to aid in the game as well as a bridge. A mechanical bridge is used when a player needs more reach than his or her arms will allow. Bridges are used in all levels of play even among top players.

The most popular cue stick games are Carom, and pocket billiards. Pocket billiards is called pocket because of the use of pockets around the table to catch the balls. There is also straight rail or billiards balk line, three cushion billiards, English billiards, snooker, eight ball, nine ball, three ball, one pocket, and bank pool. Each type of games comes with different rules, different styles, and different tables and so on. Every type of game is very fun to play and if all you do is play eight ball or some other type, it is well worth it to try a different type of billiards. There are very fun and most like your game will improve.
