The New Year is basking in the glory of some star-studded films that are creating waves in the web world. The mercury may not be rising, but thanks to the advent of technology, watching movies does not require you to step outdoors and face the chill.
It is very easy to get a hold of the latest movies online, by simply clicking the mouse. From comedies to drama and crime capers, there is something for everyone. ‘I Love You Phillip Morris’, a comedy-drama based on the real-life story of con artist, impostor, and multiple prison escapee Steven Jay Russell (played by Jim Carrey) is a must download.
For fans of the Narnia series, the third installment in the fantasy-adventure series is out and up for grabs. A visual treat with lots of 3-D effects, if you are on a look out to watch new movies, this one, can just not go amiss on your list.
Our very own ‘Slumdog Millionaire’ beauty Freida Pinto too is back on the silver screen with her latest film ‘Miral’, which is a chronicle of Hind Husseini’s effort to establish an orphanage in Jerusalem, after the 1948 partition of Palestine and the creation of Israel. The film is directed by Julian Schnabel, who has made Oscar-nominated movies like ‘Before Night Falls’ and ‘The Diving Bell’ and ‘The Butterfly’, in the past. This is a film which just cannot go unnoticed online.
Ben Stiller and Robert DeNiro too are back in action together with ‘Little Fockers’, the sequel to ‘Meet the Parents’ and ‘Meet the Fockers’. Expect a lot of comedy and rib-tickling humor from this comedy film. Another sequel that one should watch out for is sci-fi film ‘Tron: Legacy’, starring Jeff Bridges and Garrret Hedlund. The new movie took a pretty long time, as the original was released way back in 1982.
Some other movies which have captured the attention of film enthusiasts include ‘The Green Hornet’, ‘The Tourist’ and ‘Gulliver’s Travels’. The American pulp hero and masked vigilante, ‘The Green Hornet’ appeared in successful avatars on radio, TV and multiple comic book series. The franchise has gotten a new lease of life on the big screen with Seth Rogan playing the titular role.
Topping the list of new movies is ‘The Tourist’, combining the sexiness of Johnny Depp and Angelina Jolie in romantic Venice. The film is directed by German filmmaker Florian Henckel von Donnersmarck, best known for his 2007 Academy-award-winning film ‘The Lives of Others’.
Returning in a contemporary setting, Jack Black stars as Gulliver in the fantasy comedy film, ‘Gulliver’s Travels’ directed by Rob Letterman, which takes it’s cue from the 18th century novel of the same name, by Jonathan Swift. If not for its story, it can be given a go-ahead just for Jack’s bumbling and cocky comical acts.
