Snows Of Kilimanjaro

Death is definite! No one can deny the death. However, the scenes portrayed in the short story by Hemingway “The Snows of Kilimanjaro” have displayed a very different dying viewpoint. The slow transition of life to death is beautifully portrayed in the story scene by scene. On the other hand, the vanity have disrupted in the story by presenting a very pathetic theme of death. Moreover, the central character of the story “Harry” characterized as a writer who have spent his whole life in writing for money. However, now he is suffering from a deadly wound and at the same time remembers his past to consider the things which he had done and gone through in his life. The story has a thought provoking theme with a great lesson.
The short story by written by Hemingway is about a writer named “Harry” who is in Africa and enjoying safari. During his safari he suffers from a deadly wound, which leads him to death. After his illness by wound he is waiting for his death, because, he knows that the end of this sufferance is ultimately death. However, the wound pain gives him self-evaluation chance to look inside himself before his death. At that point he remembers the occurrences of his life. He feels disturbed to consider that he didn’t even make the record of wonderful events of his life which he experienced good ones and bad ones. He feels pity that he always does quarrels and blamed her other half for minute things. He remembers that he does not writer for the matters which really matters to him, for instance, writing for the poor people and for some creative writing to awake sense of responsibility in the people. However, at the last scene he dies, when in a dream he sees a plane coming to take him to the top of Mount Kilimanjaro. That Pathetic story of a writer is one of the best works of Hemingway which influenced the readers very much.

The Scene Taken by Me:

It is the last scene in which “Harry” again thinks about the war and saw a person dying. Before he wakeup he saw that a pilot comes to take him to the doctor. Nevertheless, after sometime he realizes that instead of taking him to the doctor the pilot is flying the plane towards Mount Kilimanjaro. Harry recognizes that where the pilot is taking him, at the same time, the woman wakeup due to the changed noise of hyena. Abruptly she looks at Harry and realizes that he has been died.

Rewritten Scene by Me:
When the central character again dive deep to the remembrance, he sees that he is on the peak of mountain and suddenly a lion comes very near to him, the lion looks like very wild. The character sacred from the lion and as well as from the death which will finishes himself. The two fears in his mind make him furious and sacred for the occurrence. However, when lion come near to him it was calm and looks very pretty like a cat. So, the fear of lion by the central character was changed after the calmness of lion. But, at the same time very fast snowfall starts which covered him all-around very quickly. The central character recognizes the events happening that he is going to death. Then, the woman wakeup and looks the character and realizes that he has died.

How does the point of view control a reader’s interpretation of a literary text? How might your narration change readers’ understanding of the text, characters, or events that you portray?

The original scene is not very soft due to its concept of peak of mountain and plane. It has although a perception of danger as well as death. No doubt that Hemingway portrayed it magnificently, but, the scene is full of menace of death. On the other hand, my narration and portrayal of scene has clearly defines and transforms the factor of fear and danger which can be recognized from the calmness of lion and sweetness of snowfall. It makes the scene more soft and meaningful and makes the death more soft and sweet, other than a harder touch of mountain with snow and plane.

Why might the author have chosen the existent perspective?

The writer have chosen the existent perspective, because, he wants to make the theme stoic toward death. The story starts from the death perspective and continued to remember the occurrences of life. All the scenes are in very soft manner. But, the climax suddenly turned into the harshness of by the scene of death at the peak of mountain. However, writer has his own point of view to consider the things, meanwhile; others have some other idea. So, the major cause for the writer point of view is he wants to portray the death pathetically.

Why have you chosen yours?
I have chosen my perspective of the scene, because, I think the climax must be soft due to the presence of death grief. So, the pilot and the plant took Harry and brought him to a mountain with snow which in my point of view portrayed a harsh picture. I think the climax should be dramatized, so, I chosen to make it more soft to put the calmness of wild lion and snow fall. It gives the readers a delighted thought at the time of death of hero of the story. The story started with death and ends with the death. So, as the softness should consider at the climax which will defiantly make the end meaningful and more effectual.
