Heathrow Security Scores Big

In recent years, complaints began pouring in about the burgeoning crime wave that seemed to be emanating from the crime families near Heathrow Airport. More and more baggage crimes, as well as more organized types were beginning to crop up and it started to worry Scotland Yard. People staying in Heathrow hotels didn’t notice the up tick as much since they have excellent security. Foreign dignitaries and business travelers have long lauded the security at those locations, but the airport was a different story altogether.

The crime waves that threatened to engulf the transport giant seem to be centered around London’s notorious crime syndicates, and what was once limited to simple smash and grabs or baggage thefts was now evolving into full scale heists involving securities, bonds, and money transfers.

In 2004, Scotland Yards Heathrow division caught a tip about a large planned heist when they arrested one of the junior members for an unrelated crime. When they placed him under surveillance, they noticed some unusually communication coming from him. In one tape it appeared that he was drawing a map of Heathrow gates on the side of a white van, obviously as a way to communicate without leaving an electronic trace signal.

The tip lead to the eventual capture and arrest of one of the most organized criminal elements they had seen. They successfully prevented the theft of a large shipment of Gold and gold bullion. On the morning of May 17th, detectives and security personnel surrounded the gate where the crime was supposed to occur, and sure enough, right on time, as the shipment was being transferred, a white van pulled up with all of the accomplices inside. They were all arrested in one fell swoop. Preventing one of the greatest heists of all time.

Again, since they host so many foreign dignitaries, security at the Heathrow Airport hotels is notoriously efficient. Heathrow hotels have excellent security staff and you will feel safe at all times during your stay as long as you follow basic safety precautions.
