Sammamish Plateau Water and Sewer District, Washington selects NorthStar Utilities Solutions’ CIS

Using NorthStar CIS the district will drive its efficiency initiatives, integration, and provide even more exceptional customer service.

OTTAWA, ON – NorthStar Utilities Solutions, a division of Harris Computer Systems, is pleased to announce that the Sammamish Plateau Water and Sewer District has chosen NorthStar Utilities Solutions’ CIS to replace its legacy customer information and utility billing solution.

The Sammamish Plateau Water and Sewer District serves approximately 16,300 water customers and 10,100 sewer customers with a population base of over 50,000. The District is located east of Lake Sammamish, 15 miles east of the City of Seattle. The District serves a portion of the Cities of Sammamish and Issaquah, and areas of unincorporated King County. The District has been supplying services to its customers for over 60 years.

Sammamish partnered with Demarche Consulting to develop and design a request for proposal that was released during the late spring of 2010. Their goal was to procure a modern CIS solution that would maximize their customer service capabilities, provide long-term stability, and accommodate their rapid technological growth.

After a comprehensive selection process that included on-site presentations, reference calls and reference meetings, NorthStar Utilities Solutions was selected to provide a CIS Solution and implementation services. Sammamish is now the sixth CIS customer in the state of Washington for NorthStar.

The District’s Finance Manager, Angela Barton, commented “Sammamish chose NorthStar for our CIS solution after an extremely rigorous review of solutions in the market-place. Our primary objective was to select a configurable, off-the-shelf solution from a proven vendor that would fit well within our strategy of integrating our CIS, CMMS, and GIS systems. NorthStar was by far superior in this regard.”

Angela went on to say “NorthStar’s reporting system is easily the best we reviewed; it’s fully integrated with the CIS itself, and actually launches links directly to NorthStar modules from within the reports themselves.” She also shared that “our customers have been asking for on-line access to their account information and on-line payment options for a long time; NorthStar’s eCare provides this and so much more!”

As a core component of Sammamish’s IT/Service infrastructure, NorthStar will provide the final link to the integration of the utility’s key applications. NorthStar will provide long sought-after access to actionable data across the enterprise, and enable the utility to better focus on the customer-impacting aspects of Customer Service, rather than the application that supports it.
