Simplifying Network Security Commercial PC Interactive Home-Based Courses

There are two A+ exams and areas of study, and you have to get certified in both of these to be considered A+ competent. When you embark on the A+ training course you’ll be taught how to build computers and fix them, and work in antistatic conditions. You’ll also cover fault finding and diagnostics, through both hands-on and remote access. Should you want to work towards maintaining networks, you’ll need to add Network+ to your A+ course. Including Network+ will mean you can command a more senior job role. Other ones that might be interesting to you are the Microsoft networking qualifications (MCP, MCSA and MCSE).

We’re often asked why academic qualifications are being overtaken by more commercial certifications? Industry is now aware that for an understanding of the relevant skills, the right accreditation from companies such as Adobe, Microsoft, CISCO and CompTIA most often has much more specialised relevance – for considerably less. Academic courses, as an example, often get bogged down in vast amounts of loosely associated study – with a syllabus that’s far too wide. This holds a student back from getting enough specific knowledge about the core essentials.

It’s a bit like the TV advert: ‘It does what it says on the label’. All an employer has to do is know where they have gaps, and then advertise for someone with the specific certification. Then they know that anyone who applies can do the necessary work.

We can’t make a big enough deal out of this point: You absolutely must have proper 24×7 instructor support. You’ll severely regret it if you don’t. Never accept study programmes that only provide support to you via a call-centre messaging service after 6-9pm in the evening and during weekends. Trainers will defend this with all kinds of excuses. But, no matter how they put it – you want to be supported when you need the help – not when it’s convenient for them.

Keep looking and you’ll come across professional training packages that offer direct-access support 24×7 – even in the middle of the night. If you accept anything less than direct-access 24×7 support, you’ll end up kicking yourself. You may not need it during late nights, but you’re bound to use weekends, late evenings or early mornings.

Don’t get hung-up, as can often be the case, on the training process. Training for training’s sake is generally pointless; this is about employment. You need to remain focused on where you want to go. It’s quite usual, in some situations, to get a great deal of enjoyment from a year of study and then find yourself trapped for decades in a job you hate, entirely because you stumbled into it without some quality research when it was needed – at the start.

Be honest with yourself about the income level you aspire to and whether you’re an ambitious person or not. This will influence which particular qualifications you’ll need to attain and what’ll be expected of you in your new role. Have a chat with someone that has a commercial understanding of the realities faced in the industry, and could provide a detailed description of what to expect in that role. Researching these areas long before commencement of any learning course will save you both time and money.

Considering the amount of options that are available, it’s not really surprising that a large majority of trainees have no idea which career they should even pursue. Consequently, if you’ve got no background in the IT sector, what chance is there for you to know what some particular IT person spends their day doing? And of course decide on what training route is the most likely for success.

To completely side-step the industry jargon, and discover what’ll really work for you, have an in-depth discussion with an advisor with years of experience; someone who will cover the commercial realities and truth as well as each certification.
