David Daines helps to Highlight Freestyle Skiing in Montana

Steve and Cindy Daines love their home state of Montana and talk about the greatness of the state and its residents whenever they have the opportunity. Their son David recently helped to highlight something else that Montana is known for; its world class ski areas. David Daines was one of the skiers featured in a movie called “Come Find Us”, a ski film shot entirely in Montana.

The film, which was produced by Toy Soldier Productions, features the cities of Bozeman and Butte with amazing ski footage shot at ski areas including Whitefish and Big Sky. The film also includes extreme glacier skiing with footage shot in the Beartooth Mountains. Toy Soldier Productions is made up of film students at Montana State University and is led by their executive producer Justin Brodin, who wanted to give freestyle skiing in Montana some exposure to people who may not be aware of the high quality conditions and ski areas in the state.

On gathering talent for the film Brodin said, “We opened it up to anyone who wanted to shoot with us. Obviously, there’s a talent level that we were looking for. But people would recommend someone and I’d call and invite them to a shoot. In Montana, there’s a tight knit community of riders but we wanted to pull out the best and mix them all up.”

David Daines executes one of the more amazing tricks in the movie, doing a front flip on skis over a softball complex fence. Steve Daines and Cindy Daines are also listed in the credits of the movie because their home was included in one of the scenes in the movie. After the movie’s premier last fall Cindy Daines said, “We were glad Toy Solider Productions were able to use our home for filming one of their scenes, as well as to have our son David in the movie.”
