Champagne Wedding on a Soda Budget

WOW! I’ll repeat once again…WOW! Have you seen the cost of getting married lately. With the increasing trend for couples to get married it seems that true to form, everyone is trying to get rich from it.

From wedding centres to photographers and florists, just say the word ‘WEDDING’, it’s almost a trigger for the prices to go up anywhere up to triple (this is what some florists were increasing their prices by!).

So what is the benefit of spending that extra $35,000 to $50,000 on that prestige wedding?

Well let’s see…

1.            You get the chance to make these wedding service suppliers wealthier than they were going to be anyway.

2.            And the opportunity to put a large hole in yours (or your parents) nest egg.

3.            You get the opportunity to cheapen on the type of honeymoon you can get away on.

4.            You remove the chance for a lesser home loan than you otherwise would have had (assuming you do get the opportunity to have a mortgage at the moment…).

But you do end up with that grand ceremony that is the domain of fairy tales that you were told all your life should be the way two people get hitched… right?

WHO SAYS YOU CAN’T HAVE THAT FAIRY TALE WEDDING without spending the big bucks!?!?

….and a new car would be a pretty great way to start off your newly joined future with yes?

When my gorgeous wife to be, Karen, and I resolved that we too were going to get to be part of the married community, we (or rather, she) started off along the path of established wedding. When the costs began to hover around the $40,000 mark both of us took a second look with our mouths agape and started to streamline the whole wedding plan thing.

OK! Those seperate flower settings were great and the multiple bouquets looked amazing but why the makers is slugging us twice have in the main wedding party by giving them an important task to do for us.

You know, after we sat down and really considered our wedding and took a completely different look at the way we allocated our money, we were able to amaze our invited guests with the quality and closeness of our wedding! And all for less than $7000.

Our cheaper wedding was budget in name only!
