4 Key Success Factors For Women Leaders
It is quite hard to believe that not so long ago women were given limited opportunites in the workplace. For some strange reason, men had it easier than women – more power, more pay and so on. Thankfully, this is not the case anymore. At the moment, women are continuing to get to the top of large companies all around the world. We now know that women can be as good leaders as men can, something which the past generations just could not get their head around. If you are a woman and currently looking to get your name out to executive search firms, continue reading on. Here’s a list of some (yes, there are many) of the success factors that women leaders have.
1) Confidence – Confidence could easily be the most important key success factor for any type of leader, not only for women. If you are born with great self-confidence, that is great. But if you are not naturally self-confident I would personally sug_gest that you try to improve your situation. There are a number of things that you can do to do this, I won’t go into them here. If you are involved with any type of business, you need to be able to convince others around you about how good your ideas, products etc are. Without confidence, this is close to impossible.
2) Know Your Limits – Nobody (even in business!) is perfect. While you might think to yourself that there are so many people around you that are perfect, more than likely that is not true at all. You may think that a certain person is perfect, but it is normal in business for people to look good on the outside, but deep down not be exactly the best. There is no point trying to live up to other peoples expectations, especially if you cannot reach them. Just do your best, at the end of the day if that is what you do, you can always be proud of yourself.
3) Promote Yourself – Never be afraid to talk about your own work to other people. It is common for some women to be a little nervous talking about their own experiences, but you never know who you might get talking to that could lead to you getting a much better career in the long run.
4) Get To Know Others And Keep In Contact – Most people would be surprised how fast information passes from one person to another. Because of this, it is a good idea to always make the effort to keep in contact with people that you work with over the years. It is too easy to let someone that has great contacts in the business world suddenly disappear and before you know it you wont even know their name! This really is the last thing that any woman wants to happen to them. It is not a nice feeling to think “Oh, what if I was still talking to them?” so do not let it happen to you.
As a woman in leadership roles these 4 key success factors will help you strive towards attracting executive search firms.
