Toll Free Numbers Stop Credit Card Fraud

People use people just to get or make money. They even sometimes resort to dishonest acts especially these days that unemployment rate is significantly high due to economic regression.

Credit card fraud is one of the most severe tribulations that people resort to just to make or get easy money. This problem is not only serious to our country alone, but it’s been a problem throughout the world.

What is credit card fraud anyway and how does it work? Credit card fraud is a wide word for theft and fraud done through the use of a credit card as a dishonest source of money in a transaction. The most obvious reason why it is committed is that the doer does not want to pay a single dime on the goods purchased.

There are many ways to avoid being defrauded. There are 5 basic important parts of your credit card, regardless of the type. Account holder’s name, account number, expiry date and the most important one is the credit card verification code.

One way of preventing being scammed is to not give away these pieces of information to anyone whom you are suspicious. The primary thing that you should do if you are in a middle of a transaction and the other party is asking for your credit card information is to call the toll free number given and ask the operator if it’s secure to give away those pieces of information. You will find out from then whether it’s for a legitimate purpose.

Toll free numbers are usually found at the back of your credit card, may it be Visa, MasterCard, Amex or Discover. If you had no choice but to give away your credit card information but you are still suspicious about it, call right away call the toll free number given by your card provider. Talk to the fraud department or whoever handles such problems and explain to them in detail what happened, then you will know if you were really a victim or you have just escaped being one.
