A Great Review of the New Tide Stain Release Booster

Tide has always been an industry leader in the laundry detergent market. Their parent company proctor and gamble is always thinking up new ways for increasing the effectiveness that their detergent offers.  Tide’s newest release is a stain buster product. Tide stain booster was created by proctor and gamble to assist with those terrible stains that would normally cause you to throw your shirt or pants out. These little packets are meant to be used with you detergent to give you that extra little boost to get rid of tough stains.

There are about 18 packs in one bag of Tide stain buster. Packs are pre made for a full load of laundry but tide recommends for extra dirty loads to put two packets in. Tide label reads the following ingredients for the Tide stain buster:
Oxygen-based bleach, sodium carbonate, bleach activator, and enzymes.

Now to break those down to easier terms to understand, Oxygen-based bleach turns to hydrogen peroxide and whitens through oxidation. They use the sodium carbonate as a standard water softener and the activator is included because oxygen bleach requires either hot water or a long time to work without it. Enzymes are proteins that actually break down molecules of fat, protein, or carbohydrates to aid in stain removal.

These are very common in almost all laundry detergents so there is nothing new here. Basically they have upped the concentration of all these ingredients to increase the stain fighting power of your detergent

I decided to test the product on my a triple-load front loader with a normal amount of detergent and cold water to give them a real go for their money. I only used one pack as most of my stains were not too severe.  It was a load of fairly dirty dark clothes but I threw in some whites, mostly dirty tee shirts and old kitchen towels, just to see if the stain booster could do what it says.

So how did it work? Absolutely amazing, even with the cold water it removed all the stains and made the whites even whiter. It is a great aid to have in your laundry room when you get those crazy stains you just can’t get out with regular detergent.  Overall I would definitely recommend this product to help with organic stains or odours; it also did an amazing job on both regular and coloured fabrics. This is great because most coloured fabric can’t handle liquid bleach especially in areas with hard water. Regular liquid bleach beats oxygen bleach at getting whites white but this stuff does a good job on organic stains and is safe for colors. An added plus is that these chemicals are slightly better for the environment as well.  If you used warm or hot water and allowed the clothes to soak in the water with sufficient detergent I would increase the effectiveness even more.
