X360key vs wasabi x360s which one is best to buy?

The X360Key is the very first matrix glitcher 360 USB loader made by the same team that produced the famous range of chips for the Wii the WiiKey. We think that USB loading devices such as these are going to be the future as drive flashing is becoming more and more troublesome and we go into detail about that a little further down the page. In short the X360Key is a device that you install into your Xbox 360 console and you can then use USB external storage devices such as USB hard drives, flash drives and pretty much anything that is a USB storage device to load up legitimate backups of Xbox 360 games that you own. This is a must for those that have young children who we know have a habit of scratching the game discs to the point they no longer function and also not to forget the rate kids tend to lose things. You can now have all your valuable Xbox 360 games stored in the one neat place on a USB storage device and have the X360Key load them up as needed.

The install for the x360key Xbox 360 USB loader is going to be 100% Solderless as well, that’s great news for those not handy with a soldering iron but aren’t too worried about taking their console apart. All be it you are still going to require you take apart your Xbox 360 console to install the main board which will sit in-between the motherboard & DVD drive in your console and then run the cable out to the OLED controller, but we don’t think this is going to be a problem for most end users and should not be any more complex than installing a Wode Jukebox for example. There are plenty of videos on YouTube on how to disassemble your Xbox 360 case and we know for a fact that the team will have a very detailed set of instructions for the installation upon release. To control the device they will come with a nifty little control pad which sits outside of the console and has an OLED display, it has three buttons for navigation of the remote which is how you select and load the titles you wish to play off your external USB device.

As some of you might already know the latest dashboard updates for the Xbox 360 now reflash your drives firmware, if the drive is running a custom firmware such as LT+ this new dashboard update will remove your custom firmware and return the drive to a stock firmware. This means you will now have to either pay someone to re-flash the drive or do it yourself, why this is starting to look like it will become a real pain is because if every dashboard update from here on in re-flashes your drive back to stock you will need to flash it every time a new dashboard update is released with a custom firmware. For those paying people to flash your drive this is going to become a costly process that eventually you are going to get sick of paying for, also if you are doing it yourself you are quite quickly going to get sick of having to open the console every month or so to update the drives firmware again. This is where X360Key will shine, these dashboard updates will not affect it at all, once it’s installed it leaves your drive with a stock firmware and so when these dashboard updates do come out they won’t have any effect on the hardware itself.

X360Key Xbox 360 USB Loader Features

With features like this who wouldn’t want an X360Key for their Xbox 360 Fat or Slim console…

Like we made mention above the X360Key is an Xbox 360 USB Loader, it’s going to give you the ability to load backups of your original games right off external USB storage devices. This is going to save you worrying about scratched discs or games being lost, it’s also going to go a long way to helping extend the life of the laser in your consoles drive. The team have announced they also plan to add in a feature with a future firmware update to allow the X360Key to make use of the DVD drive in your console to make backups of your original games right onto your external USB storage devices for you. The unit comes with a cute little OLED external remote control that is used to select and load up the titles you wish to play on your console. The X360Key is the first Xbox 360 USB loader optical drive emulator and it’s sure to be a hit.

X360Key Xbox 360 Consoles Supported
With almost all Xbox 360 consoles supported on release the X360Key is going to be a big hit…

The X360Key Xbox 360 USB loader is going to support almost all 360 consoles on release, all the original fat Xbox 360 consoles will have support on release & the team just announced that Slim support has been added to the release firmware as well, we have a table below that we will keep updated with what drives are supported by the current firmware. From the news we have so far it’s confirmed that the Slim Lite-On 9504 & 0225 consoles will be supported in the release firmware but we don’t have solid news on the Lite-On 0401 just yet, there is a chance it will support it but we won’t know more until closer to release. At this stage the Slim Hitachi 0500AA won’t be supported in the release firmware but they have commented they will be working on adding support for this drive type found in the newer slim consoles with a future firmware update.

what is wasabi x360 ?

The Wasabi X360S is an Xbox 360 Slim HDD Loader and the third to hit the market. The design of the Wasabi X360S looks similar to how the Blaster CK3 connected to consoles and overall looks like it will be a nice integration with the Xbox 360 Slim consoles. While these have only just been announced and their basic feature set we have at the bottom of this page the Wasabi X360 looks like it will be a decent product for the Xbox 360 Slim owners out there. The price is not 100% confirmed as yet but it looks like it will be around the same price as the X360Key, once we have confirmed price and secured some stock we will start taking pre-orders. At this stage we have not been given information on the Wasabi X360S release date, but as soon as we get this information we will of course write it up.
Team Wasabi are most famous for their Wasabi DX chip for Wii, for those that know their Wii stuff like we do here at modsupplier.com you will know that the Wasabi DX in the end was one of if not the best Wii chips just behind the Wode, while not as popular as the DriveKey the Wasabi team certainly held their own and produced updates as needed and overall was a quality product, we are sure the same thing will be able to be said for the Wasabi X360S and they basic features that have already been announced make it look like it will follow in the footsteps of their former products.
