Improve data transfer rate on Mac OS X

Mac OS X is one of the advanced computer operating system from Apple Inc,. It has interactive interface that gives a high-tech feel while using computer. Mac OS X gives all the features that includes performance, reliability, and strict security. But sometime it creates problem while using any application or copying data. When you try to copy data, you experience with slow data transfer on Mac. This is really annoying problem.

Sometime when you start some application on Mac, it starts very late due to slow performance. It means, your time always goes waste uselessly. You may have noticed the data transfer rate while copying data within Mac hard drive. You notice that the transfer rate that displays sometime 15mb/s, sometime 20mb/s, and sometime 50mb/s. However, you are sure that earlier the data transfer rate was higher than these. It means, your computer has degraded its performance. Therefore you must go for solution to improve data transfer rate on Mac.

There are several factors that causes Mac slower like:

  • Storage controller driver is not up-to-date or is malfunctioning
  • there is virus in the system
  • Antivirus software is scanning all your data files and programs
  • some of the specific programs may have reserved CPU control
  • multiple programs is running in background that is using much CPU

If there is virus in your system, then it automatically starts executing and consume CPU. Hence it reduce your system performance thus data transfer may get affected. If your antivirus software is not up-to-date then it also creates problem. When you starts data transfer in either within hard drive or USB flash drive then the antivirus scans the data first then validate it to copy to destination. It takes enough CPU thus it slows down data transfer. If you are having problem with applications running slow it means, some of the programs is utilizing CPU or may be, multiple useless programs running in background which is consuming enough CPU.

In order to improve Mac speed, you should first update your hard drive driver. If you are using antivirus then you should first update it and then scan entire computer’s drive to eliminate viruses, trojans, if any. Open ‘Activity Monitor’ in your Mac and quit the useless process. If you have installed to many programs then uninstall the program that you don’t use. You should also defragment your hard drive time to time to improve speed of your Mac computer. Now you will be able to transfer your data at sufficient speed.
