Yercaud is a spectacular hill station in the South Indian state of Tamil Nadu that is around 35 km from Salem. It is situated in the Eastern Ghats of the Shevaroys range, the area of Yercaud hill is also called as Shevaroy Hills. The National Orchidarium: It is a Botanical Garden that was constituted in the year 1963, which is preserved by Southern Circle of Botanical Survey of India. Also it has rich wildlife, which fits a rich variety of fauna as deer, bison, mongoose, rabbits, hares, partridges, ant-eater and several species of snakes and birds like kites, bulbul, paradise flycatcher, sparrows etc.
Yercaud Lake: It is the primary attraction of this place, that catches your most attention. It is enclosed in the area of the glorious gardens and profuse green trees. The cold and crystal clear water of the lake displays a refreshing effect, while a boat ride in the lake will impress you with most awesome experience.
The Servaroyan Temple: It is located at the tip point of the Shevaroys hills. It is the most adorned temple with marvelous carving work. Bear’s Cave: It is situated near the Norton Bungalow, which is one of the oldest bungalow of Yercaud. It is malleable by the two huge rocks, lies in between the way of Servaroyan Temple. The cave is mostly 7 feet below the ground level and extended till Kaveri (Karnataka), which ranges a distance of about 485 km. But the visitors cannot move more than 100 meters inside the cave as it is blocked by the rocks.
