Why Bid for a Pallet

Over the years you may have become used to bidding on many different things online. Some people start out small i.e. adding to a collection that they are obsessed with; while others will take a ‘risk’ with something a little bigger, like a new digital television; but have you ever considered bidding for a pallet?

You won’t find these on most of the auction sites that you are used to visiting, and you may be wondering what you would do with one if you got it, so let’s have a brief look at what they are, and what you can do with one when you have successfully bid for it.

Let’s start by saying that a pallet (for this purpose anyway) isn’t referring to a wooden platform that you can pick up cheaply down at any local warehouse; well, it’s not solely that. The pallets that you will be bidding for will be either general merchandise pallets, or contain customer returns. This means that you could be getting a pallet loaded with: electronics, lawn and garden implements, tools and equipment, sporting goods, and lots of different items for the home.

Why would you want general merchandise pallets, or customer returns?

One reason may be that you have a new home that you want to equip. If you bid on the right pallet, and don’t end up getting excited and over bidding, then you can get a lot of what you will need for the home or garden at a fraction of the price it would be in the local shops. Each pallet that you bid on will give you a list of some of the major items that it contains; but it will usually contain much more than that.

If you don’t have a home that you need to equip, or just replace a few of the items in, then you can choose the second option for what to do with your pallet – sell it on.

Have you ever wondered where people get a lot of the merchandise that they sell on the auctions sites, and how they can afford to sell them at such ridiculous prices? Many will source the products from overseas, but just as many will be selling off individual items that they have received in successful pallet bids. Just think about it for a moment…

You buy a pallet of electrical items for next to nothing. They have all been returned because people decided that they didn’t want the product after buying it. Once they are returned they are fully checked out, and refurbished if necessary; after that, however, they generally don’t go back on to the shop floor, they are sold off – and that is how they make it onto a pallet. You now have a fully serviced item that you can sell on an auction site. All you need to do is to work out how much you need to make to cover your costs, and add a margin. You could, if you wanted, find the retail price and sell for x-percentage lower than that – the choice is yours.

How do you get started? Just go to http://www.palletbid.com and register. Once your registration has been approved you’ll be able to have a look at what is on offer, and start your bidding. It really is as easy as that.

So, if you have the ambition to start making money from the comfort of your own home, and feel that selling on an auction site is the way to do it, but you have never had the quality stock to match your ambition, then things could be about to change for you. The economy is not the greatest at the moment, but people still need things for their home, and they’re looking for bargains, so why not be the person to give them that bargain? Who knows, you may find something on the pallet that you don’t want to part with, so you end up with a ‘free’ product while making money – could it be any better than that?
