How to Setup a Word Press Blog with a GoDaddy and HostGator account.

So why would you want your own website, why your Word Press blog? Well, in the world of censorship you might consider your content and efforts as valuable time spent on your efforts. If you post to Youtube or Facebook or other social media’s you run the risk of having them remove your content. For any number of reasons they could simply shut down all the content that you have put up.

So here are some of the simple steps to get you started on owning part of the internet for yourself.

First you need to have a domain name. You can get one simply by going to any domain name hosting service. I like the GoDaddy service. I am an affiliate with them and you can click here to send you to their website to get setup. Choose a domain name that is easy to spell and remember. The harder it is to remember your domain name, the less likely it will be that someone can get to it.

Once you have you domain, ie. www.yournamegoeshere.com . You can choose a hosting service. A hosting service is the place where you are going to be storing your content online. Again there are several places you can choose to do this and I would suggest a service that gives you a bunch of free options with your purchase. There are many and you should choose one that has reputable services. I am also an affiliate with www.hostgator.com and you can select some of the cheapest hosting for $7.95 a month. Right now it’s cheaper $3.97 per month on promotion!

Ok now you have a domain name, and now you are hosting your domain at hostgator or another hosting service. This tutorial will show you how to setup your WordPress blog on your Hostgator web hosting. This is one of the most simple services to use on the web today and it is affordable too!

Log into your hostgator hosting service and get into your C panel of your back office. From there you are going to scroll down to the Software/Services and click on the Fantastico Deluxe option. Once inside there click on the Word Press button on the left and install Word Press onto your host gator server.

Once Word Press is installed onto your HostGator server you now have your own Word Press Blog! Your going to have to do some setup once WordPress is installed but it really is that easy. You will need to get some setting from your hostgator account and put them into your GoDaddy account for your Domain name.

Once inside goDaddy account. You will need to change the host Servers to point to Host Gator. It should look like this inside goDaddy. See bottom left corner for the Name Servers.

Go to your GoDaddy control panel. Choose your setup email that you get 1 free one with your domain. You will get 1 email from godaddy for you Domain name. You can choose the any name that you want like info@yourdomain.com. This will allow you to use that email through GoDaddy’s control panel. What I like to do is forward that email to another account you may have like say your gmail account.

Once inside your settings you can choose your info@yourdomain.com address to forward to your gmail or Hotmail etc.

Now you have a domain name, www.whateveryouchose.com, with it hosted on Hostgator, installed a Word Press blog on the hostgator hosting and setup an email through your GoDaddy control Panel!

All this means you now have a website that is a workable blog! Once you go to your www.whateveryouchose.com and login to your Word Press account you are ready to start posting.

It may sound like a lot of steps but really is pretty easy to set up. I am happy to help you get started doing it today!
