New Chevrolet Cruze facelift launching on June 27
General Motors India made a very important announcement today, the company is all set to launch the next gen Chevrolet Cruze luxury sedan in India. General Motors will be rolling out the new version of Chevrolet Cruze sedan in India on June 27 in New Delhi while the Mumbai launch is slated for June 29, 2012. The revamped Chevrolet Cruze was displayed at the Geneva Motor Show this year and since then the Indian customers have been waiting for the launch of Cruze’s new avatar. The reworked version of Cruze the major changes have been made in the engine of the vehicle which more mighty now than before. Apart from being more powerful than its forerunner, the vehicle will now be able to return more mileage which has become extremely important now days with petrol prices going up.
Chevrolet Cruze has been a favourite vehicle choice in the C segment, known for its power packed performance the new version of the luxury sedan is going to blow away its rivals like Skoda Laura, Renault Fluence and Volkswagen Jetta.
The enhanced much frugal motor residing under the hood will have a displacement of 1988cc, which is a tad more than the current displacement of 1991cc. The powerful mill grunts a top power of 164 Bhp and a maximum torque of 360 Nm. The power and torque figures are way too high than what other sedans present in the same segment offer. New Chevrolet Cruze will be offered in both six speed manual gearbox and the advanced six-speed Automatic Transmission.
The muscular sedan is expected to run around 11 kmpl which is slightly more than what the current version returns. The current version offers a fuel economy of 9.8 kmpl. This was about the mileage returned in city conditions, as far as the highways are concerned Cruze is likely to offer a fuel efficiency of 15 kmpl to 16 kmpl. While the current verison of Chevrolet Cruze returns a fuel efficiency of close to 15.5 kmp, on highways. If rumours are to be believed, Cruze will not see any changes in price, for knowing the Cruze price we will have to wait until the launch date when the price of the sedan will be revealed for ex-showroom Delhi price.
Reworked Cruze will get some changes on the exterior front along with some other minor changes in the interiors. General Motors India plans to infuse a fresh 2013 version in the beginning of next year. The outer design will flaunt a new design of the GM. This would be the second launch from the company in 2012, this again is a facelift of an existing version. Before Cruze the company launched new version of Chevrolet Tavera Neo 3 in the month of March. Apart from this another facelift version of one of the existing cars from GM’s stable will be launched in October. Here we are talking about the launch of new Chevrolet Captiva SUV which was earlier scheduled for April 2012, but had to be deferred due to some undisclosed reasons.
