Ford EcoSport SUV expected to be launched in 2013 Q1
Everyone is waiting eagerly for the launch of Ford’s new compact SUV, Ford EcoSport which was showcased earlier in the month of January at the 11th Auto Expo. However, the American auto maker has clearly mentioned that the Ford EcoSport India launch will not happen in 2012, it will rather take place during the Q1 of January 2013. The company is testing the compact SUV rigorously on the roads of India. This is the second product out of the eight new products that the company announced to launch last year in the domestic car market. The SUV was spotted on the roads of Chennai undergoing test runs. The SUV has received good response from the auto aficionados; it has good design, which is very different from the other SUVs present in the Indian car market.
The SUV is going to be priced low, expect the Ford Ecosport India price is start from Rs 9 lakh for the base petrol version. Speculations earlier suggested that the SUV will be launched only in petrol version initially followed by the diesel version later. However, of late rumours were now doing the rounds that Ford is testing a diesel version of EcoSport SUV too. Ford Ecosport compact SUV will be powered with a 1 litre Ford EcoBoost engine which has been designed specifically for the SUV. This 1 litre three cylinder petrol engine is said to be highly frugal and has also won accolades for its performance.
As per the company’s words this 1 litre three pot EcoBoost petrol engine is capable of delivering same performance as the 1.6 litre gasoline mill. The engine not just gives good amount of output but it also emits very little amount of emission levels. The low emission enhances the fuel economy by 20%. Indian market is soon going to witness launch of many SUVs in India, out of which Ford EcoSport is one. There are few things common in the three new SUVs going to launch in India which are low price tag and compact size. The other compact SUVs that are also going to fall in the same segment are Maruti XA Alpha and Renault Duster.Out of these two SUVs, Renault Duster is soon going to be launched in the Indian car market. The French auto maker has sealed July 4th as the launch date for the SUV which is less than a week later. With such compact SUVs and MPVs coming to the domestic market a new era has started in the Indian car market. Hopefully all these SUVs will be launched in both petrol and diesel versions.
Ford EcoSport is going to be a very crucial launch for Ford in India as the only product which has actually been able to carve a niche for itself in India is Ford Figo hatchback. The company now eyes to repeat the same unparalleled success with EcoSport SUV. This is one reason that the company is taking time to launch the SUV as it does not want to leave any stone unturned. Ford EcoSport also has got the potential to hit the bull’s eye, the SUV will also be launched in other car markets too and buzz has it that before India other car markets will see the launch of EcoSport which is a little disappointing news for the Indian customers.
Renault Duster a strong rival of EcoSport is on brink of launching this could work in the favour of Duster as it is being rendered before the other two compact SUVs which are India bound. However, a good product which has the potential to woo the customers and auto aficionados has nothing to fear, hopefully EcoSport would be able to impress everyone with its looks, performance etc.
