Honda Brio diesel launch expected around Diwali

Honda launched the first entry level car from its clan, Honda Brio last year in the Indian car market in the month of September. Honda received unparalleled response for the mini hatchback from the customers which can be seen in the form of monthly sales. The company now wants to cash in the success of Brio hatchback by launching the diesel version of the small car. Indian car market has gone hysterical over the diesel driven cars, car makers are vying to launch diesel version of their cars to boost sluggish sales.

Honda does not have even a single diesel variant in its portfolio in India and if Brio is launched then this would be the first diesel car from the Japanese car maker. However, speculations were also doing the rounds earlier regarding the launch of Honda Civic diesel and Honda CR-V diesel, though nothing has been materialized as of yet. Brio has different looks which makes it conspicuous in the entry level segment. Honda has always made sure to deliver top notch quality cars with good looks and this is the reason the car maker has managed to make a mark in customers’ hearts.

The all glass rear makes the petite hatch a unique car since this is seen for the first time in any of the hatchbacks that has launched in India. The small, zippy and stylish hatchback from Honda has definitely struck chord with the Indian customers and hence Honda is keen at launching the diesel version of the hatchback looking at the small car’s popularity. Offered in a variety of colour options, Brio is equipped with advanced features that make it a complete package. The hatch is not as small as it looks from the outside; Honda Brio has the capacity to accommodate five adults easily without much problem. The low lines tail lights, eye catching front grille makes this hatch stand out among its rivals. The all glass rear makes it even more attractive and renders a contemporary look to the hatch. As we all know petrol cost has gone up drastically in the last one year as a result of which petrol powered cars are lying unsold at the dealers stockyard, car makers have also slowed down the manufacturing of the petrol engined cars due to low demand. This has led to an out stripping demand for diesel cars in India. Almost 60 percent of the total sales accounts to diesel powered cars, diesel is cheaper than petrol and diesel mill is frugal than petrol engine.

After launching Honda Brio Diesel, the company will then launch its premium hatch Honda Jazz in diesel version. As per one of the marketing officials at Honda Motors India, launching brio in diesel version will suffice the customers’ demand for diesel powered car from Honda’s clan as this is the most highly selling model from Honda’s stables. However, later more diesel variants will also be launched but since this is the mass segment vehicle therefore company is developing diesel version of this hatchback first.

The company which use to shy away from giving discounts on its cars has also doled out lucrative discounts on its cars to push sales, however the discount can also be offered to some extent only.

Along with Honda other car makers are also developing diesel and CNG versions of their respective cars. Like Volkswagen is developing CNG variants as it will be much more affordable for the customers to maintain a CNG vehicle than a petrol car. Expect Honda Brio diesel to launch in India during Diwali or close to Dussherah.
