New BMW 3 Series launching tomorrow in India

The fastest growing segment of the Indian car market is the luxury car segment that mainly comprise of the three luxury car makers from Germany, BMW, AUDI and Mercedes. These car makers have successfully lured Indian customers and are now coming up with new products to make sure that they are able to push back the competition. There was a time when luxury cars meant vehicles with heavy price tag, but thankfully the philosophy has been changed over the years and these premium car majors are now offering products with lucrative price tag. Such range of products includes vehicles like BMW X1 compact SUV, Audi Q3. More such cars are being launched in India which includes Mercedes’ A Class and B Class hatchbacks which will be launched soon in the Indian car market.

Out of these three car makers, BMW has managed to stay at the top spot for quite some time and in wake of maintaining its number one position, the company is all set to launch a fresh version of BMW 3 Series sedan in India tomorrow. BMW easily outnumbered Mercedes but it has major threat from Audi who is slowly heading toward the number one spot. After the launch of Audi Q3 specially the company has managed to reach an outstanding monthly sales mark and if this trend continues to be the same a day will come when Audi will outnumber BMW India. However, BMW is trying hard not to let it happen and hence is offering new products and new version of its existing products to keep the customers’ interest alive.

BMW 3 Series has been an important model for the German car maker both in the domestic market as well as in the global market. The current version was launched back in 2007 was a fresh offering with dynamic looks for the Indian and global customers. The model had a perfect blend of style, comfort, technology, driving pleasure etc. If we talk about the new gen BMW 3 Series, the model has taken these attributes to the next level. The styling is definitely much better and has no resemblance with its predecessor rather it looks more like its elder cousin BMW 5 Series. The rear now comes with wider boot lid and broader tail lamps that looks a lot like BMW 5 Series luxury saloon. New grille is commodious and its chrome edges touch the angular headlamps. The new version of the sedan in not just longer but also wider than its antecedent. Use of light weight materials used for making the sedan, the new gen of 3 Series is 40 kg lighter than the old version.

Longer wheelbase gives ample space to the passengers sitting at the rear to sit comfortably and stretch their legs during long drives. BMW 3 Series will be launched in India with two engine options initially which includes the 320d diesel trim with 1995cc engine serving the previous version, this engine can generate a staggering 181 bhp of maximum power. On the other hand the petrol version BMW 328i will be launched with twin scroll turbo direct injection motor from the previous model, this engine can produce 241 bhp of maximum power.

The fuel economy of the saloon will be much better than the previous version. The low weight of the sedan along with eight speed gearbox will enable high fuel efficiency than expected. The “Eco Pro” setting adjusts the powertrain and the AC also to offer maximum fuel economy. The company claims that this will enable to deliver 20 per cent more fuel economy than the current version. The increased fuel economy will add another feather to the BMW 3 Series’ cap.

Now let us come to the most important part of the vehicle that is the new BMW 3 Series price in India. The company has not given any hint about the BMW 3 Series price, however rumour mills suggest that it could be around Rs 28 lakh to Rs 37 lakh. All details will be revealed tomorrow at the launch which will take place at the heart of the nation, Delhi. The new sedan will be launched at the gala event organized in New Delhi.
