Disassembling an AR15 Upper Receiver

The AR15 is a large rifle, similar to those issued to the military. It’s a cousin to this military machine, which uses gas, cooled by the air, and can be fired at shoulder level. The ar15 upper receiver on this gun consists of several different parts, which can be disassembled to repair or to clean it. This receiver can also be removed without tools, if necessary, which is helpful when it needs to be disassembled quickly. To confirm anything in this article, it would be best to check the owner’s manual for this gun.
Here are some basic instructions to disassemble your ar15 uppers.
1. Take out the magazine. By doing this, you’ll have access to the charging handle. Take a look at it and make sure the switch is on safe. This will make it easier to complete the rest of these steps as the process goes forward.
2. Press the rear takedown pin, either with a finger or something else safe enough to press it. Push this as far as you can do it. This pin won’t pop out at you or fly out at all, but doing this will loosen the hinge that attaches the two receivers to each other.
3. Locate the well of the magazine and the front pivot pin. Press the pin down and doing this will release the pin. Again, it won’t pop out or cause any danger, but it will completely separate the two receivers.
4. Pull back the charging handle as you would do when preparing to shoot the weapon. When you do this, the bolt and its group will come out easily.
5. Remove company the charging handle by pulling back and then up on it. This will remove the handle from the receiver completely.
6. Take out the firing pin and its retainer. Once this is done, you should be able to push the bolt forward and after you do that, set it upside down. The pin should then simply fall out.
7. Take the pin from the bolt out at the end of the carrier. The end should resemble a wheel that is cogged. You should be able to turn it to the left slightly before you take it out.
Now that the receiver is disassembled, you can properly clean all pieces of it, or repair it as you need. Cleaning these pieces makes the gun last longer and keeps it in great condition for as long as you own this classic weapon.
