Less than eight months after her debut album

Less than eight months after her debut album, as a new teenage star, Barbadian R&B singer Rihanna released her second studio album “A Girl like Me” through Def Jam Recordings on April 25 in the United States. It peaked at number five on the U.S. Billboard 200 album chart and also successful in other countries. Musically, the album incorporates a combination of pop, reggae and ballad elements which received mixed reviews by music critics. Here are 13 tracks on the album of original version. I love some of them so much. These are my own reviews to the 4 singles off the album as follows:

Just in the near future, our young diva Rihanna will shock the world once again with her newly release “Loud”. Featuring upcoming R&B hits, this album will be doomed another commercial success since her “Good Girl Gone Bad” in 2007. I first found Rihanna’s newly released album just when I was browsing on an online wholesale seller which supplies different kinds of power laser pointers looking for a 200mw green laser pointer pen at low price. The first single, “Only Girl (In The World)”, came up and I gave it a try. It was just for my favor. I booked this CD with a 532nm green laser pointer, and I anticipated so much and couldn’t help listening to her new hits at once. During the time for waiting, I take out her former album “A Girl Like Me” and put it into the player. This is the beginning reason why I have been being hooked on Rihanna for so many years.

S.O.S – With nice poppy up-tempo dance beat and flavor to it, this is just that kind of a song to get a dance floor moving that just makes anyone want to dance under the rays of green laser pointer. As the first single off the album, it was released on March 7, 2006. The song achieved considerable airplay throughout the United States and Canada and reached high peak positions on both airplay charts. It contains samples of the 1981 cover version of “Tainted Love” from Soft Cell. “SOS” became Rihanna’s first single to reach number-one on the Billboard Hot 100.

Unfaithful – This Rihanna’s 2nd single written by Ne-Yo, which has a nice pop ballad feel to it and it does have great lyrics and delivers a good vocal performance. “Unfaithful” was released as the second single from the album on July 17, 2006. The song achieved commercial success reaching the top ten on the Billboard Hot 100.

We Ride – This single is a good jam with a nice funky hip-hop beat to it. It was released as the third single from the album in September 2006. The song was released to US radio on August 21, 2006 although the song wasn’t nearly as successful as the previous two singles, not charting on the Billboard Hot 100. However, it reached number-one on the Billboard Hot Dance Club Play.

Break It Off – Featuring Sean Paul, this nice reggae club song could be a great dance track for those who like to reggae dance. Rihanna & Sean Paul sound so good together on this awesome beat. “Break It Off” was the fourth and the final single from the album, released in December 2006. The song peaked at number nine on the Billboard Hot 100 and became Rihanna’s fourth top ten single in the United States. “Break It Off” was one of the few songs in many years to reach the Billboard Hot 100 without a music video.

To sum up, Rihanna proves she is standing there on the stage more mature and more. Although this album is not perfect but absolutely an advance to her career. She has shown her potential here and her sophomore try has been a commercial success without doubt.
