Learn About The Theosophy And Theosophical Wisdom
Theosophy is a set of guidelines that deal with religious and mysticism. It holds that all religions are attempts by the occult Brotherhood to help humans evolve to greater perfection and each of these religions has its own portion of truth known as theosophical wisdom.
The founding members of this doctrine were Helena Petrovna Blavatsky, Henry Steel Olcott and William Quan Judge who established the Theosophical Society in New York in 1875. The theosophical society has come to be known as a global association dedicated to practical realization of oneness of all life and to independent spiritual search.
The early theosophical society established by the three founding members had three objectives. The first one was to form a core of the Universal Brotherhood of Humanity that had no distinction in terms of creed, sex, color or race. The second one was to promote the study of Comparative Religion, Philosophy and Science and the third and final objective was to look into the unexplained laws of nature and the powers latent in man. These are however subject to debate but are seen as the best set of objectives originally set out.
The word theosophy has been used to define knowledge of divine things or knowledge gotten from insight, experience or intellectual study. It can simply be described to mean divine wisdom. Its etymological definition is from the two Greek words theos meaning divine and Sophia meaning wisdom.
It tries to explain the perennial wisdom that is inherent in the world’s religions, sciences and philosophies. Books on theosophy are not considered as being revelations or final authorities on matters they speak of, rather they are taken as guides in an individual’s search.
Theosophical wisdom tends to be taken as the resultant residue of knowledge from all the religions after they have been stripped of their accretions and superstations. Its philosophy tends to represent life as understandable and shows that justice and love guide the universe. Its teachings tend to help show the latent spiritual nature of human beings that is not linked to dependence or fear.
Theosophy therefore does not fit into a description as a science, religion or philosophy but as an embodiment of all this school of thought, knowledge and wisdom and it seeks in finding truth in all of them.
The theosophical wisdom tends to impose no belief on anyone and purposes to try and explain existence by engaging members in study, reflection, loving service and purity of life. This portrays theosophy as a way of life that leads to self knowledge and knowledge of the laws of being. The motto of the society is ‘there is no religion higher than truth.’ Its purpose is to open peoples’ minds so that they do not simply accept what is taught but to approach it with an open mind Do not be afraid to ask questions regarding the matter as well as realize that there are other philosophies, sciences, religions and conscious aspects you have to consider in your spiritual journey.
