Handling Estate Sales for Extra Bucks
Have you ever been to an estate sale? If so, you have likely encountered one of those people who handles estate sales for a living. Have you ever wondered how much money they make in one day? If they are good, it can be a lot, actually. Basically, they find people who have had a family who passed away or someone who is going into a nursing home, for instance. They will usually work with anyone who needs to have a massive sale of everything in their home.
Let’s assume that you find someone who wants to have an estate sale because their mother died. She had a house full of stuff, and the family is too overwhelmed to try and sell it all. So, they pick out what they want to keep and call you to hold an estate sale for them. You agree that you will take 10% of the proceeds from the 2 day sale. You advertise in the newspaper and put up some directional signs. You help the family price everything in the home and open your doors for business.
At the end of two days, you have sold most of the furniture and valuable items in the home. The total amount sold was $3,000 because the mother had a lot of nice furniture. So, you net $300 for sitting in the home for two days. This is not a bad paycheck for about 16 hours of work! Plus, you work out a deal with the owners that you can purchase the rest of the stuff left over for $100. So, you take those things home to list on eBay for more profits. By breaking up the items on eBay, you will be able to make more money in the end because you can market the items worldwide.
