Step one:
Let the battery drain till it dies completely.Once you install the custom ROM in your phone,you need to ensure that you have charged your phone for 3-4 days of time so that the battery gets aligned to the usage pattern of yours.Ensure that in these 3-4 days of time you are not charging till the battery becomes 15-20% so as to utilize the full charging cycles.
Step two:
Connect the device to the charger and let it charge till it is 100 percent full.Now,once the battery is charged full after 3-4 days,you then need to connect the phone to the computer with the help of USB cable and then connecting the USB cable to the computer,enter into the recovery mode.
Step three:

Switch off the smartphone.Take out the battery and put it back in to start using the device normally.Ideally,the above process needs to be followed for two to three days.After that you need to charge your battery regularly and only when the low battery indicator beeps.It is necessary to charge the device with the supplied charger.Using a different brand or duplicate charger damages the device’s battery in the long run.Always wait for the device to beep for low primary battery and then connect it to the appropriate power source for charging it completely.Leaving the phone charging overnight also disrupts the cells in the battery and reduces its life in the long run.
