Greece at its Best

If you would like to see the genuine Greece that implies deviating from what the majority of the holiday makers do. That suggests not staying in a 5 star hotel in the middle of Athens. It implies not going to almost all of the same-old traveller sites that everybody goes to. It suggests not going to all the same-old museums that folks do. It implies living and respiring like a genuine Greek.

Sure you can do all of these things and why wouldn’t you want to see some of these amazing places but that isn’t seeing the real Greece. What does it mean to see the real Greece? It means instead of staying in a hotel or even a hostel that you rent a house or apartment that is in the residential area. Instead of going out to a restaurant to eat that you go out to the supermarket or market and buy it yourself. Then you go back to your place and cook it.

Not only is doing something similar to this more gratifying it is also seriously cheaper. The Mediterranean diet is rich on olive oil, fish and cheese and you should buy the most extraordinary fresh products at the markets. There is little like cooking a fish that was caught only hours before. This is the kind of thing that permits you to see the genuine Greece.

The biggest issue when it comes to a vacation is time. If you have a limited time in a place you are obviously going to prioritize and do the biggest things first. That is why everyone goes to Athens just like they go to New York, London or Paris. But if you have a bit more time in a place it allows you to scratch the surface and get to the underbelly.

What this means in reality is that you are going to go to other parts of Greece. It could be Larisa, Zagoria or Piraeus. Possibly even the island of Crete or Kavala. There is a whole lot of Greece to see. Then obviously there are all the Greek islands of which there are many. Greece shares s border with four countries that are Albania, Macedonia, Bulgaria and Turkey.

What you’ll find is that as your span the border, the kind of Greece you run into and the Greek folks there’ll be different. It’ll either have a larger Albanian, Macedonian, Bulgarian or Turkish influence. This is a component of being exposed to the country. The people in these parts are raw and real and you are not going to get anything apart from a genuine meeting with them.

If you have same time you can drive around the country. Stay at bed and breakfasts before you go on to the next place. The more time you have at your disposal, the more true of an experience you are going to have. It will even be more real if you can speak Greek and talk to the locals in their language.
