There are few hotels in Moshi Tanzania quite like hostel hoff. It’s got an incredibly unique focus on no and low-cost volunteering for travelers in Tanzania. Situated right at the base of Mt. Kilimanjaro, travelers from all over the world stay here to volunteer while staying at the hotel. And yes, you can be sure that it’s named after David Hasselhoff.
As mentioned, the hostel’s main focus is on organizing volunteer projects in and around Moshi, Tanzania. It started as a very small place back in 2006 with the hope of helping independent travelers with a desire to volunteer to sidestep ‘volunteer organizations’ that were solely focused on profit. It’s the hostels firm belief that when someone wants to volunteer that they shouldn’t have to pay to do so.
It’s pleasantly shocking to see how the hostel has succeeded. Grounded in the firm support of other travelers, it seems there’s a real backing to our philosophy and we’re proud to serve Moshi as a hostel and hotel.
So, what should you bring? Well, pretty much the only thing you need is a great attitude and desire to help. Most (not all, of course!) of our visitors are solo-travelers, so the ability to meet and connect with like-minded people and the potential to meet life-long friends is tremendous.
The emphasis at the hostel is placed on a relaxed friendly atmosphere. Most people who stay are traveling alone and so it gives an opportunity for people to live with and make friends with other travelers and volunteers. There are many common sitting areas and rooms, so there is space to carry out different activities. There are also many supplies left in the hostel by previous travelers/ volunteers that are for common use, such as paper, paints, medical supplies etc.
We’ve got everything all set to help you be safe, comfortable, and to focus on what matters most… your time here. Breakfast and dinners are included, staff will tend to your laundry, cleaning, and security, and we give you mosquito nets, books, and DVDs to help you relax.
