Where Creatine Monohydrate Came From

A French Scientist named, Michel-Eug?ne Chevreul was the first to discover creatine monohydrate back in 1832. While dissecting and logging scientific data from different animal he discovered that some had more muscles than other of the same age group.

His continued research revealed a naturally occurring substance he called creatine in the muscles. He recorded his findings in a detailed creatine monohydrate review that was used by a German scientist a short 15 years later. This new study revealed how the substance creatine retained water in the muscles of certain types of more muscular animals like deer and antelope.

From this he was able create the real, first commercial grade sample of creatine monohydrate powder with the intention of studying it’s effect on athletes.

It’s Introduction Into Sports

It wasn’t until the 1900’s, that creatine started to make it’s way into professional athletes that’s to yet another Soviet scientists. He started incorporating the creatine into the daily diets of Russian athletes during their training for the 1970 Olympic Games. The effects were outstanding with regards to endurance and elevated training levels that have never been seen before.

From this creatine made it’s way into history forever as the safest, most effective training supplement in the market. As it grew in popularity it didn’t take long before every professional athlete was using it to enhance his or her workouts.

Further studies in early 1980’s concluded that when first starting creatine supplementation, if a larger amount of creatine was introduced into the body at the beginning (Creatine loading) then results would be seen sooner as the creatine muscle concentration increased sooner.

Once the creatine loading phase was completed after 7 days then a smaller dose called the creatine maintenance stage would be necessary to maintain these higher levels of creatine in the muscles. This would allow for more extensive workouts, creating quicker results.

By the time the 1996 Olympic Games were held in Atlanta GA, a study conducted on all the participating for steroids showed that and amazing 80% of the participating athletes were using creatine monohydrate to enhance their performance, which was completely legal.
