Have the Holiday of your LIfe in Crete

I do not think that there is a single person that can doubt the fact that Greece is one of the most beautiful countries in the world. Greece has the tenth longest coastline in the world at 14,880 km (9,246 mi) in length, featuring an enormous number of islands (approximately 1400, of which only 227 are inhabited).

Crete (Greek: Κρήτη) is the largest and most populous of the Greek islands and the fifth largest island in the Mediterranean Sea. It forms a significant part of the economy and cultural heritage of Greece; while it retains its own local cultural traits ( its own music and dialect). Crete was the center of the Minoan civilization ( 2700–1420 BC), the first civilization in Europe with a palace (at Knossos). Crete is also very popular among tourist mainly because it combines perfectly the beauty of a mountainous with breathtaking beaches.

There are many ways in a traveler can access the island of Crete.
By plane: Crete has two airports. The airport in Heraklion which is the largest and is located about 5 km east of the city of Heraklion(largest city in Crete) and the one located close to Chania. If you are planning to visit western Crete the aiport of Chania is the best option for you to choose.

By ferry:This way of transport applies to the kind of traveler that loves sea and time is not an issue for him. Additionally traveling by ferry is far more economic than traveling by plane. Crete has many ports and ferries arrive and depart from the island on a daily basis. In Crete there are also ferries to Greek islands. Specifically for the tourists that come from central Europe and travel through Italy there are ferries to Greece(Patra) where the visitor can directly take buses to the port of Piraeus and from there to Crete by ferry.

Most visitors ted to visit Crete during the summer months however no matter what time of the year you decide to visit Crete the island will not fail your expectations.
