Accutane is a synthetic form of vitamin A, and is meant to be prescribed by dermatologists only when all other methods of acne removal have failed, because it is a very powerful drug that inhibits oil glands, cell growth and reproduction.
Unfortunately, several users of the drug exhibited adverse side effects that ranged from mild discomfort to long lasting health conditions. Milder Accutane side effects are said to include headaches, dry skin, thinning hair, nosebleeds, and dry eyes. Cessation of Accutane use should clear up these side effects in a short period of time. Other users, however, experienced more severe side effects that resulted in long lasting illness.
