The total guide to commissioning a Phantom Race Caller
The reason behind the phantom race call is that you run a horse racing experience using some actual pre-recorded events but using a live caller to call the existing races as they appear up on the screen. Obviously the races are not really “live” as you would need all the horses at a race track or to be in front of the TV whilst a race was on. If this was the circumstance you would most likely just listen to the endorsed race caller rather than doing this yourself.
Fantasize that you are having a Christmas function or a football club fundraiser and your topic is A Night at the Races. If you have your own phantom race caller you are able to customize the horse names and race names to suit your own needs and really add that special touch to the experience. You could list all the races as your corporation products, school curriculum or business territories. You could even use the main boss’s names or the principal and staff names on the race card. Most races these days are previous championed by a business organization name so as a matter of choice than listening to them call out Race number 1, race number 2 etc you get the sponsor’s name into the race details as every opening.
Once you have your list of race names it’s time to get even more inventive and have the single horse names altered to include some separate personalities. When assigning racehorses the general rule is that the name cannot be longer than 18 characters. It must not allow for utter profanity words, it cannot be a figure or a difficult to utter word. Alliteration works very well as does having a sense of drama and being able to have some amusement when making up the names – just don’t repulse anyone.
The phantom race caller will need a list of all the names so that they can develop a script and go over. If you have gone overboard with the names it may be vexing to announce them all when the race is run. The script for the races is based on previously run (but not very well know) races, so there is often a timing matter with obtaining the race call right.
Now that you have your race names and horses named you just need a form manual with all this knowledge for all your guests to see. Print out a copy of each guest and give them this in advance. The form instructions should include some relevant data about the races including, the race name and several sponsors. The names of the horses you have chosen, past 4 starts (form guide) and jockey colours (so that you can follow your horse in the crowd)
It’s now time to get the races underway now that you have finished all your preparations. Make sure that your Phantom Race Caller has a microphone to call the races and that they can watch the partition to see the races whilst they announce out the race calls. If you have promised added bookies to take bets and arrange the payouts make sure they are ready at the conclusion of the race.
