Customized Outdoor Signage is Perfect for Garage Sales
I decided to have a big garage sale one day last summer. I have so much junk I could sell! Hoping to make tons of cash, I gathered everything in my driveway and began making signs on my computer. I spent a good two hours trying to design an outdoor sign in my word processing program. After dealing with tons of formatting issues, I finally made a decent looking sign. I printed out a bunch of copies and drove around my area, taping the paper signs to trees, street signs, bulletin boards in coffee shops and more. There were areas I’d hoped to target — like the side of the big road by my house — but I had nothing to tape my signs to.
Not surprisingly, I didn’t attract all the customers I’d hoped to. A few people showed up, sure. But only two of them said it was because they saw my signs. Other people happened to walk or drive by, were neighbors, or saw the ad I posted online. I grudgingly packed everything back up and put it in storage for another year.
I decided to try it again about two weeks ago. I lugged everything back out into the driveway, but this time I didn’t make dinky paper signs on my computer. I decided to go with the professionals. I know you need to spend money to make money, so I made a rather small investment in a few professional signs.I was able to design my coroplast outdoor sign for free online. It was easy and only took about ten minutes. I actually had fun doing it. Then, I had the signs shipped to my house — for free! I also got a discount because I ordered more than one.
My perfect signs look so professional when they arrived! I got in my car and went to put them along the side of the big road near my house. It was so simple to put them in the ground and I was able to place them in super high traffic locations. I knew hundreds of people a day would see them! But would I actually get any customers this time around?
Yup! On the day of the sale, many people came by. I even heard someone say they thought it was a store’s sale because the signage looked so professional! I sold almost everything and ended up making over $500! What a great investment! The outdoor signs were cheap, durable and professional looking — and they actually made me money. I’m so glad I ordered them!
I definitely recommend making the investment in professional outdoor signage for your yard sale (or other event!). Imagine seeing a nice, big, professional looking sign — wouldn’t you be more likely to pay attention? Obviously it’s a quality event they’re advertising. I’m going to have a garage sale twice a year, and I plan to order professional outdoor signs every time. I’m looking forward to making an extra thousand dollars a year!!
