How to Find Courage During the Storms of Life.

When we are in the midst of hard times, it feels like we will never get out of them. We feel alone and like the only person that is struggling in life. The storms of life happen to everyone at one time or another. The question is, what are we going to do about them? Are we going to lay down and die or are we going to float to the top and prevail?

When I am faced with these type of things, I ask myself, what did others do when faced with these types of things? What did my grandparents do? What did other great people in history do?

‘Courage is not the lack of fear but the ability to face it’
Lt. John B. Putnam, Jr. is credited for the saying. Putnam, a highly decorated member of the US Air Force, is best known for his military record during World War II. He died while in service to his country when his plane crashed July 19, 1944. He was 23 years old. That is quite a bit of wisdom for a man so young.

In times past people not only faced their fears, but they overcame them. In my blog Taber’s Truths, I have written an article called “What the Bible teaches about Courage”. In it you will find that the Bible has a lot to say about having courage and how to find it. In our modern day, many times people overlook all the wisdom and resources the good book has. Your ancestors found strength and courage in it when they had to overcome things like wars, natural disasters, diseases the killed whole towns, floods, and economic woes like the great depression. Do you think that maybe you could find some insights just like they did?

When I wrote the article I found that

1.) That there is a correlation between doing and living right and having the ability to have courage.

2.) That courage comes when you have your eyes and perspective on the right things.

3. That there is a direct connection between having hope and having courage.

4. And that people who have a relationship with God, have a promise that God will never leave them or forsake them.

Just these 4 things alone will help the average person have courage through tough times. However the bible is filled with many more things that are not normally taught in today’s public schools. It teaches us how to have hope, how to have strength, how to overcome adversity and how to have a truly abundant life. Now I don’t know about you, but that sound a lot better than the latest cheap paperback thriller. Right now I need to know how to have these things? How about you?
