Yercaud is popular hill station of India near the district of Salem in the state of Tamil Nadu. It is located in the Servarayan hill range in the Eastern Ghats, located at an altitude of 5000 ft above sea level. The highest point in the region of Yercaud is the ancient temple of Servarayan and it is because of the same reason the hill range is often known by the name of Shevaroy Hills. The Yercaud taluk includes the forest reserve range also and covers a total area of 382.67 sq km. The hilly regions are covered with thick layer of mist and the temperature of the region ranges from 25 to 12 degree Celsius. The average rainfall of the region is between 1500 mm to 2000 mm.
