Improving the Society’s Value According to Sandi Vito
Sandi Vito is Pennsylvania’s secretary for the Department of Labor and Industry, and she has greatly improved the state’s value. To greatly understand what this means, it’s important to know what the Pennsylvania state had been challenged to in the past years before she was appointed into the Labor Industry. In 2003, Edward Rendell was voted to be the Governor of Pennsylvania, and he was welcomed by an economy that became stagnant and deteriorating because of its uncompetitive workforce and below the average for national eligibility especially with adult workers whose earnings are either dormant or are already decreasing. These problems had made the State of Pennsylvania as an uncompetitive state not just in the United States but for the worldwide market. Because of this, Governor Rendell recognized that there is an urgent need for reform of its human capital policy and there is a need for restructuring of the Labor Force.
He assigned Sandi Vito for the position, and she didn’t waste time. She worked to change the whole system and formed the committee with delegates from the cabinet-level affiliates of Pennsylvania for the examination of all the sides of the structure that includes the workforce-related plans, financial and investment support flows, service delivery and services. She had initiated programs, partnerships with companies, and trainings for workforce that are enthusiastic and skilled. Because of the progress that was developing, the state of Pennsylvania had been given the spotlight by the United States for the economic growth and the increase in career employment.
As a result of the devising of Job Ready PA which was the complete overhaul of their worker’s development system, over 6,000 businesses became involved in around 80 industry partnerships and over 70,000, workers were given the chance to train and improve their skills and knowledge. Those that had been trained through the industry partnerships had to wage increase of an average of 6.62%. Furthermore, for the health careers in Pennsylvania, the number of graduates for LPN and RN has also increased. Because of Sandi Vito and her department’s help in expanding the career job opportunities, she was awarded the TrailBlazer award. She was also recognized with the workforce development leadership award and was also given the honor by the national association of State workers’ agencies in 2009 by giving her the Eagle Award for all of her contributions for the said workforce development. The contributions of Sandi to the state of Pennsylvania are remarkable. From being an incompetent state with regards to its workforce, it’s now becoming and was acknowledged and proclaimed by the US Department of Labor to be the national labor so that other states will follow. Pennsylvania had seen a lot of progress since 2003.
