Solar Water Heat Pumps

Solar water heat pumps are heat pumps that rely on solar energy of course as opposed to other forms of energy. This then makes them highly beneficial as a way to heat your swimming pools without having to worry about your energy bill or the destruction that regular heat pumps do to the environment.

How They Work

Solar water heat pumps essentially work via solar thermal energy. This is a certain type of solar power that is useful in applications that involve heating. While you might use solar voltaic energy in order to power an electrical device, solar thermal panels are designed for heating. Solar voltaic panels work by utilizing sunlight – as in the actual light from the sun, which in turn excited the particles in the panels in order to create a voltage (this is then transformed into DC for your home appliances).

Actually it would be possible to use solar voltaic panels to power heat pumps, as the energy would then be used in order to run a heater.

However for most solar water heat pumps the application is different. Instead, here you have a device that works by literally heating up the water and then directly using it in order to heat other things. In the case of a swimming pool then, the water would be heated up and then pumped either into the swimming pool or around it in order to heat up the pool as well.

This works using tiny little tubes that run through the solar panels. These tubes carry small bits of water and of course that water then gets heated up by the sun in order to then be pumped around the pool or other item so that it can heat it up.

Meanwhile the pump itself works like a fan, so that as it turns it pulls and then pushes water to the other side of it. As it is funneled down a tube, the pressure then ensures that it keeps moving and flowing to where it is needed.

Why They Are Important

This is a very good way to heat your pool for many reasons. First and foremost it means that you are heating it with a renewable energy source. This means that it won’t run out and that in turn means that it doesn’t contribute to the ever growing energy crisis. On top of this, the fact that the energy source is renewable means that it exists in limitless amounts – which then means that you don’t have to pay for it. Something that exists in such abundance of course does not have to be paid for as it there is so much of it.

This also means that you aren’t using energy from a power plant where they would burn fossil fuels. This again is important as fossil fuels are mostly made from carbon which is compressed and decayed living matter. In turn this means that they release carbon gasses which trap heat in the atmosphere and cause global warming.

A new energy product on the market are heat pumps. They do not require direct sunlight like solar panels do.
