SIA: 9 saw global semiconductor sales growth of 2.7%
Global Semiconductor Industry Association president Toohey (Brian Toohey) said today that the September data represents a more optimistic end of the third quarter. He said: “Despite the global economic uncertainty limits the rest of the year (the global semiconductor) sales outlook, but recently from the United States and Europe, encouraging signs of positive sales.”
Data show that in September the U.S. semiconductor sales growth of 0.7%, while European sales growth of 2.1%. Compared with a year earlier, the U.S. semiconductor sales rose 0.4%, European semiconductor sales rose 4.7%.
Japan’s semiconductor sales in September, the biggest increase in the chain, reaching 4.2%, semiconductor sales in the Asia-Pacific region increased by 3.2% qoq.
Global Semiconductor Industry Association pointed out that in the third quarter, mainly due to market demand in Japan earlier this year, the earthquake and tsunami disaster recovery drive. The association also said that from mobile phones and automotive applications and mobile devices such as Tablet PC demand is very strong.
