Every time I get home, changing into a cozy pair of slippers is the first I do. Only when walking in slippers, I feel I’m actually at home, leaving all day’s trouble and worries behind. It was a Sunday evening two years ago when my friend Lily and I decided to go shopping. It was summer time and the wind was all breezy and cool. We arrived at the shopping mall in the town and strolled around aimlessly. Right at that moment, I spotted that cute Crocs slippers sitting right there inside a store. When I went inside to have a better look, to my surprise, it was on sale with its price cut 20%. I checked it and found it all right. Just as I was to consider myself so lucky, a hand snatched the slippers from mine out of nowhere and I found myself all confused and irritated. I turned around and found a middle-aged woman standing next to me. Even before I could open my mouth, the old hag began to motor mouth to me to the effect that she found the slippers first and she had to have it. Right then, I was more vexed by her attitude and the notion that she “had to have it’ than by the slippers in question, I decided to strike back, joining hands with Lily. Even before I winked at Lily to ask her to do something, I found Lily snatch the slippers back from the hag’ hands. “Excuse me, If you found it earlier than this girl, then sorry to tell you I was earlier than you.” Before the woman could get her thoughts together, Lily paid for the slippers and we both strutted out of the store.
Now whenever I think about this little incident, I felt lucky that woman had a slow mind and I had a most helpful friend. And that pair of slippers, for its usual acquisition, has been cherished more.
