Mosaic Card

Draw the outline of a house on the front of a plain piece of card stock. Make it as simple or as elaborate as you desire. Make sure there is plenty of room to create your mosaic. Add a tree shape, mailbox, clouds or any other features you would like.

2
Write each color on each section of the picture, such as “red” on the door, “blue” in the sky, etc.

3
Cut pictures out of magazines that are the colors you desire. The picture won’t matter, just the color. An example would be to use a red couch as part of a door, or a brown dress as part of a roof. Try to have several pieces of different pictures to make up each color.

4
Trim the pieces to fit each shape like a puzzle.

5
Mix 1 part thick liquid craft glue with 1 part water in a small shallow bowl, according to the recipe found at the Kinder Art website. Using your paintbrush, stir the mixture well.

6
Paint the glue mixture thinly onto your shapes, adding your magazine pieces as you go. Be sure to smooth out any air bubbles that may accumulate. Keep adding your pieces until your picture is complete.

7
Write “Welcome Home!” on the outside or inside of the card, along with any other personal message you wish.

Welcome Hug Card

1
Use a piece of unfolded card stock as your base for this card. Draw the shape of a person on the card, leaving off the arms.

2
Cut out two arm shapes from construction paper to fit the sides of your card. Make sure they are large enough to cover your inside message.

3
Tape the two arms to the sides of the card so that they fold inward.

4
Unfold the arms. Write your “welcome home” greeting so that it will be covered when you refold them.
