After being off the marketplace for annually, the Dodge Durango re-emerges with a new body along with a new type of driving which makes it competitive against other crossover SUVs. Some of 2011 Durango models come with an optional 5.7 Liter V8 engine, which offers 360 horsepower and 390 pounds-feet of torque. You can purchase an used Durango engine with anywhere from a 3.7 liter to a 5.9 liter engine.

2011 Dodge Durango Options

The 2011 Dodge Durango is available in a number of five different models namely, the Express, the Heat, the Crew, the R/T and the Citadel.

The Express and the Heat include the three.6L V6 flex-fuel engine, automatic transmission, up to 16 city/23 highway mpg, all-wheel drive, MP3 Player, satellite radio, side/curtain airbags, stability control, traction control and bluetooth. The distinction between the Express and the Heat would be that the bluetooth comes as a set feature within the Heat and as an optional feature in the Express; nevertheless the Express includes third row seats, while the Heat doesn’t.

The Crew encompasses all the features from the Express and Heat, using the third row seats and bluetooth both coming standard. The Crew has the other options of either a V6 or V8 engines, along with a navigation system.

The R/T offers the best performance and the Citadel provides the best trim features of all the models. Both come standard with all the basic features of another three models and several added benefits. The R/T and also the Citadel both have a DVD player as an optional feature. The navigation product is available to both models, but comes standard within the Citadel and optional in the R/T. In both the Citadel and the R/T, the 5.7L V8 engine can be obtained – in the R/T it comes standard, whilst in the Citadel the lower grade3.6L V6 can also be available. The R/T provides the best gas mileage of all of the models with up to 14 city/20 highway mpg.

Back in the Game

Despite its a bit smaller cargo room and fewer powerful V6 engine when compared with its competitors, the 2011 Dodge Durango is certainly back in the game. With its new stylish interior, sophisticated ride, easy maneuverability, adult-friendly third-row seats, powerful optional V8 engine and generous towing capacity, this year’s Dodge Durango is a worthy contender among cross-over SUVs.
